Multi-investigator and multidisciplinary research teams are valued at The University of Duhok (UOD). Research teams can be simple and contain numerous investigators inside a single department, or they can be more complicated and span multiple departments, making them multi-investigator and multidisciplinary. These teams can be diverse, involving concentrated research challenges, shared facilities, shared databases, and so on, but they all have a common aim and a team approach in boosting the quality of research work at UOD. These teams connect departments, Faculties, and other institutions in ways that go beyond the usual department structure. These connections help to alleviate isolation and improve intellectual endeavours in research and education. For the benefit of everyone engaged, a balance must be struck between multidisciplinary team activities and department-focused initiatives.
